Wunderblitz is a German brand for firelighters and accessories, which was introduced in 1962 by the company Schreiber KG in Alsfeld / Germany.
The company’s history goes back to 1907, where it has been established in Mühlhausen / Thuringia. It started with the production of lighters for
diesel engines and mining lamps. They moved to Alsfeld in 1962. In the end of the 1960’s they had been first company which started production of wood & paraffin firestarters in Germany. Other related products like liquid firelighters, lampoils, soot removers, oil-stove-lighters … had been under
own production, too. In 1984 the firelighter with own igniter (= one strike fire starter) had been developed and produced since then. Further
developments followed. The latest are the sustainable eco-firepads, developed in 2017. These are made from domestic straw and recycled biomass.
